Coen brothers recruit Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson for 'Hail Caesar' Jul 10, 2014 - 14:00

Like other cast members involved with the Coens' look at 1950s Hollywood, Hill might be well known for comedic parts but has experience working on more serious fare.

Tatum's latest film, "Foxcatcher," is a biographical drama starring "The Office" and "Anchorman" actor Steve Carrell as philanthropic, menacing wrestling coach John du Pont, with Tatum opposite him as Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz.

And Jonah Hill's appearances in "Knocked Up," "Superbad" and "This Is The End" are counterbalanced by Oscar nominated roles in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Moneyball."

The Coen brothers are equally adept at straddling grim and grin-incuding material, known for their work on "The Big Lebowski," "Inside Llewyn Davis" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" on the one hand, and "No Country for Old Men," "Fargo" and "True Grit" on the other, though tending toward dark comedy in recent years.

As for "Hail Caesar," the Coens have in mind a story about a 1950s Hollywood fixer whose job it is to make sure one studio's roster of actors are happy -- or at least compliant.

Josh Brolin and George Clooney are already on board, while Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes are also in discussions, as Variety reports, with production to start in fall of this year.
